Presentation
The Chemistry department offers a Master's degree in Engineering "Chemistry for Therapeutic Innovation and Cosmetics" (CITC) in partnership with the UFR Droit, Economie Gestion (IAE). This is a reinforced 5-year course (Bachelor's + Master's) for training to become an engineer in the fields of Chemistry for Medicines and Cosmetics.
The Master's Degree in Engineering (CMI) is a 5-year university course designed to prepare students for careers in engineering. Within the framework of a national charter and reference framework, Réseau FigureThis master's program is based on an existing bachelor's and master's degree in chemistry at the Université d'Orléans, and is strengthened by a strong partnership with the UFR DEG and by the close involvement of academic (ICOA and CBM) and industrial laboratories of excellence in scientific research.
Objectives
The CMI CITC (Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering for Therapeutic and Cosmetic Innovation) aims to train managers (engineering professions) in research and development for chemical innovation in health and well-being (therapeutics and cosmetics).
At the end of their studies, graduates will possess solid skills in molecular chemistry and analytical chemistry at the interface with biochemistry/biology, enabling them to design, synthesize and evaluate bioactive molecules, as well as promote the innovation needed to develop the activities of the companies to which they will belong.
Skills
The CMI Chimie pour l'Innovation Thérapeutique et la Cosmétique (CMI CITC) draws on the expertise and skills of two laboratories:
- the Centre de Biophysique Moléculaire (CBM)
- the Institut de Chimie Organique et Analytique (ICOA)
These two laboratories are associated within the "Physics and Chemistry of Life" Research Federation, to take advantage of their thematic and institutional complementarities (CNRS and Université d'Orléans).
This federation is conducive to the development of projects at the interface between the Sciences of Matter and the Sciences of Life on the Orléans campus.
The course will also benefit from the laboratories' strong links with local, national and international industry.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The knowledge acquired by students will enable them to achieve the following competencies:
- Synthesize and purify high-value-added molecules.
- Understand molecular interactions (small molecules/large molecules).
- Exchange, understand and be critical about the relevance of biological targets.
- Identify tool molecules and design bioactive molecules.
- Use modern screening techniques to be more innovative.
- Communicate easily in French and English (don't be blocked internationally).
- Know the cosmetics and therapeutics sector.
- Understand the ins and outs of setting up your own business.
- Set up and manage projects.
- Present results (written report, oral presentation, etc.).
Students graduating with the CMI CITC label will be trained in active product discovery techniques, R&D coordination and cosmetics or pharmaceutical engineering.
Admission
Admission requirements
Hold a general baccalaureate specializing in Mathematics and/or Physics-Chemistry and/or Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) and/or Engineering Sciences.
How to register
CMI CITC students (class of 20) will be recruited on the basis of a portfolio assessment followed by an interview via the PARCOURSUP platform (course type: engineering training) for new baccalaureate holders, or by application in the case of a reorientation to the University of Orléans, and in particularFaculty of Science & Technology.
Various post-baccalaureate gateways have also been envisaged.
Applications are systematically examined on a case-by-case basis by the pedagogical team.
To receive the application form, please write to secretariat-chimie.st@univ-orleans.fr:
- an application for reorientation to theFaculty of Science & Technology of the University of Orléans.
- the various post-baccalaureate gateways that have also been envisaged.
Target audience
- Students preparing a general baccalaureate
- Students (PASS/LAS/CPGE,...) reorienting their studies

Bridges and reorientation
A number of bridges are available to enable students to enter the CMI in S2, S3 or S4. Students enrolled in the CITC CMI can transfer to another Chemistry CMI in the Figure network.
Professional integration
The R&D sector in pharmaceutical or cosmetic chemistry, particularly in small structures where multidisciplinarity is an undeniable asset, will be a major source of employment opportunities. It should be added that our program, particularly in OSEC, will aim to train students in business creation.
And also in the following areas:
- Agriculture (insecticides, fungicides, pesticides, fertilizers, etc.) ;
- Agri-food (intermediary between producer and consumer, creation of new products, oenology...) ;
- Fine chemicals: cosmetics, perfumery, textiles, paints, plastics;
- Heavy chemicals: petroleum chemistry, inorganic chemistry (fertilizers, sulfuric acid, ammonia, compressed gases, etc.),
- Energy (chemical conversion of energy, use of biofuels, biomass recovery, etc.) ;
