The university diploma in Mental Preparation Applied to Sports Performance is specially designed for sports training professionals, and aims to provide knowledge and skills in the mental dimension to enlighten and/or consolidate their practices.
It also provides a framework for further training for psychologists and sports medicine practitioners who wish to acquire new or complementary skills to their basic training.
Objectives
The aim of the university diploma in Mental Preparation Applied to Sports Performance is to train professionals in mental preparation, i.e. specialists who will be able to analyze performance from a psychological point of view, evaluate the mental and cognitive skills of athletes and propose mental training programs that meet the needs of athletes, on the development of mental capacities such as :
- emotional management,
- analyzing and processing information,
- the use of cognitive-behavioral techniques to optimize performance while respecting the athlete's well-being.
Program
The DU is divided into 3 parts, with 4 weeks of classroom courses divided into 4 sessions of 1 week every two months.
These courses are interspersed with 2-day distance learning sessions every 2 months and a compulsory 130-hour work placement, to be carried out in a top-level sports facility if possible.
The course consists of 6 units:
- UE1 Introduction to mental preparation (ethics and deontology, definition, purpose)
- UE2 The scientific foundations of mental preparation (methods)
- UE3 Psychological determinants of performance (emotions, beliefs, trainer-trainee relationship, self-esteem, etc.)
- UE 4 The mental trainer's toolbox (mental imagery, maintenance, relaxation, concentration, anchoring, etc.)
- EU 5 Specific audiences/situations (Young people, injury)
- UE 6 Internship (internship report, internship dissertation and oral presentation)

The following are eligible to apply:
- Bac + 3: Licence STAPS, Psychology or equivalent.
Selection: based on applications submitted between May and August, for entry in October. Number of students limited to 20 per class.
