By taking the DUEF A2, students will learn to establish social contact in French, take part in simple conversations on familiar topics and talk about their tastes, activities, hobbies and experiences.

They will become familiar with various types of informative writing, and will be able to briefly recount some of the events in their lives in writing.

Gradually, they will be able to grasp the essential information in a TV newscast with the help of visual aids.

Competency-based learning objectives

  • Listening comprehension: Identify the topic of an ordinary discussion that unfolds slowly and with clear articulation. Understand meaningful words and expressions related to areas of immediate relevance. Understand and extract information from short recorded passages on current topics.
  • Reading comprehension: Understand short texts on concrete topics, using very frequent vocabulary. Grasp relevant information in most simple written texts. Understand a short, simple personal letter.
  • Oral expression: Use simple words and phrases to describe surroundings and daily activities, introduce people, describe familiar objects, talk about tastes. Express feelings and justify them in simple terms. Give a very brief talk on a topic related to everyday life.
  • Written expression: Write a series of simple expressions and sentences linked by elementary connectors. Write a brief description of an event, activity or experience. Write a short, simple note or message about immediate needs.

Admission

Admission requirements

The minimum level required is a baccalaureate or secondary school leaving certificate. All fields of training are accepted.

In French, students must be able to prove that they have acquired an A1 level. There is no absolute beginner's level.
