- hold a Master's degree in research (or a DEA)

- have been authorized to register by the President of the University on the recommendation of the Director of the Doctoral School, after consultation with the thesis director.

Exemptions may be granted

- candidates holding a professional master's degree

- candidates who have completed equivalent studies abroad
