The Professional Degree program provides the skills needed to work as a tour guide, designing and leading guided tours in at least two languages, presenting the cultural, natural, scientific or industrial heritage of a site (monument, museum, nature park, city center, industrial site, etc.) or a given geographical area to a variety of audiences.
This diploma entitles the holder to obtain a "Guide-conférencier" professional card, issued by the prefecture, and to work throughout France and abroad on behalf of a French organization. This card guarantees the quality of the service and its content to tourism professionals and the general public alike. On completion of the training program, graduates can enter the job market immediately.
Skills
The Professional Degree program combines theoretical instruction and practical exercises, to develop the knowledge and skills needed to guarantee the quality of the services provided by future guides. It meets the requirements codified by the regulatory framework:
- Master the documentary research methodology essential for promoting and transmitting cultural content.
- Provide a commentary in French or a foreign language during a cultural tour
- Identify target audiences, then adapt your message.
- Identify and update the content of a cultural project.
- Master guiding techniques.
- Master the environment and professional market for guided tours.
- Use digital reference tools and IT security rules to acquire, process, produce and distribute information, and to collaborate internally and externally.
- Identify, select and critically analyze various resources in your field of specialization to document a subject and synthesize data for further use.
- Analyze and synthesize data for further processing.
- Develop arguments with a critical mind.
- Use the different registers of written and spoken French with ease.
- Communicate orally and in writing, clearly and unambiguously, in at least one foreign language.
- Identify and situate the professional fields potentially related to the skills acquired in this field, as well as the possible pathways to access them.
- Characterize and promote your identity, skills and professional project in a given context.
- Identify the process of producing, disseminating and promoting knowledge.
- Situate your role and mission within an organization to adapt and take initiatives.
- Respect the principles of ethics, deontology and environmental responsibility.
- Work as part of a team and network, as well as independently and responsibly in the service of a project.
- Analyze your actions in a professional situation, self-evaluate to improve your practice.

- Applications are examined on the basis of a portfolio including a letter of motivation.
- Interview in French to assess general knowledge, interest in heritage, motivation, professional project and in a foreign language (English or Spanish).

Mandatory prerequisites
Candidates must be fluent in at least one foreign language. They must have a strong taste for heritage, a desire to share this passion, a professional project underway and a solid motivation. The course will be open to :
- who have completed the first two years of a Bachelor's degree in history, art history, archaeology, languages (LEA, LLCER, LACIS, etc.), literature, cultural mediation, animation, communication, or any other discipline (biology, chemistry, law, management, geography, physics, etc.), depending on their mastery of the prerequisites;
- who have completed a BTS in Tourism, a BTS in Communications, etc.
- with a DUT or University Bachelor of Technology (B.U.T) Information, communication; business and administration management; multimedia and Internet professions, socio-cultural activities;
- or those with a Bachelor's, Master's or Professional Degree degree in heritage-related fields or professions.
It will also be open to people returning to school, holding at least a Bac+2 or benefiting from the validation of professional experience (VAP / VAE). They must have a minimum of experience or knowledge of the field.

Professional integration
Figures will not be available until 24 months after the end of the first year of training.
Professional activity
At the end of the year's training, graduates receive a guide-lecturer card issued by the Prefecture, enabling them to work throughout France and abroad on behalf of a French organization.
They can be employees of an organization (public authority, company, association, state) or self-employed (auto-entrepreneurs).
Graduates can work in the full range of guiding professions: guide, lecturer, animator, mediator, advisor, accompanist, coordinator of heritage, tourism, travel and stays, and in a wide variety of structures such as a monument, a museum, a "maison des illustres", an architecture and heritage interpretation center, a cultural meeting place, a scientific culture center, a natural space or a major site in France, an industrial, scientific or technical site, a tourist attraction; in a village (Petite Cité de Caractère, Plus Beaux Détours de France, etc.) or a town (Ville et Pays d'Art et de Histoire, etc.), in a tourist office, an incoming travel agency; on behalf of a hotel, a tour operator, a tourist information center, a tourist information center or a tourist information center.) or a town (Ville et Pays d'Art et d'Histoire), within a tourist office, an incoming travel agency; on behalf of a hotel, a tour operator, a coach operator, a cruise operator, etc.
Further study is not a goal in itself. However, those who wish to do so can extend their training with a Master's degree (art history, cultural heritage management, tourism, heritage enhancement, languages, etc.).
