Objectives
This new Professional Degree program, which opens in September 2021, is designed to train professionals capable of assessing, diagnosing and appraising woodland or wetland areas in order to solve water management problems in line with the forest environment. The training offered enables students to acquire the skills needed to carry out accurate diagnoses of territories from a forest-water-watershed perspective (e.g. alluvial forests), and to make and implement management proposals. The Professional Degree program is open to initial and continuing training as well as apprenticeships.
Teaching is carried out by teacher-researchers from OSUC and LEGTA (Le Chesnoy-Les Barres, Les Barres site), and 1/3 by professionals from consultancy firms, river/watershed associations, appraisal firms and public research organizations.
The pedagogical objective is to enable future graduates to carry out a complete diagnosis of the landscape, ecological, economic and heritage value of woodland and/or wetland areas, with a view to managing and preserving water resources and forestry operations. They will also be able to propose a management plan for this area with a view to maintaining or improving water quality, while combining the objective of sustainable forestry. They will be able to draw up and cost specifications. They will be able to assess, diagnose and appraise a wooded or wetland area.
They will be familiar with management, protection and communication tools.
