Presentation

The main aim of the Master's degree in History is to provide high-level training and an introduction to research for students preparing for careers in research and teaching in History and Geography, as well as careers in heritage, culture, journalism and communication, local government and parliamentary life, the civil service, or private enterprise in the fields covered by the course. Three courses are offered:

- Political support professions: communication (MAP COM)

- MEPOCS - Memories, powers, cultures, societies

- MEMPHIS - Professions in the study, mediation and promotion of history

The MEMPHis pathway (Study, Mediation and Promotion of History)

It offers a solid training program open to all periods, focusing on documentation, conservation of archives and other sources, and scientific popularization. Students undertake an optional internship in M1, and a compulsory internship in M2 in a conservation or cultural mediation institution.

Prepares students for careers in documentation and libraries, and in cultural and historical mediation. The course provides a solid grounding for competitive examinations in these fields, as well as a solid foundation for further professional study.

 1. Local, personalized support

- Students can transfer between courses during or at the end of M1.

- Limited number of students per supervisor.

- At least one supervisor for each student.

- Regular meetings and systematic review of the student's work.

- The teaching team provides support for off-model student projects (events, self-managed seminar series, visits).

2. A training program open to new historical developments

- From coins to interviews: a cross-period course covering all the different historical sources and methods, from numismatics to oral archives, iconography, material culture ...

- Seminars in a variety of formats (specialized, transperiodic, methodological and laboratory) to gradually integrate students into the most up-to-date historical research.

- Introduction of the student to the teaching team's networks (invitations to on- and off-campus events).

- A course in tune with current events in history and its place in society: Les Rendez-vous de l'Histoire de Blois, film screenings, lectures and debates, exhibitions...

 

3. A wide range of tutored internships

- Compulsory internship in M2 in National and Departmental Archives, Fine Arts Museums, Specialized Museums, Libraries (internship lasting 6 weeks or more).

 

 

4. A rich and stimulating student life

The History master's program has twoalumni associations: MAPCom, Asso Map and Historiae, which provide a link between alumni and newcomers, and offer a range of activities throughout the two-year program.

For Master 1

Applications are open to holders of a bachelor's degree in History, Law-History, Political Science, Heritage or Art History.

Candidates are selected on the basis of their applications by a committee made up of members of the teaching staff (via MonMaster).
