Presentation
The main aim of the Master's degree in History is to provide high-level training and an introduction to research for students preparing for careers in research and teaching in History and Geography, as well as careers in heritage, culture, journalism and communication, local government and parliamentary life, the civil service, or private enterprise in the fields covered by the course. Three courses are offered:
- Memories, Powers, Cultures and Societies (MEPOCS)
- Métiers de l'Etude, de la Médiation et de la Promotion de l'Histoire (MEMPHIS) (Trades in the Study, Mediation and Promotion of History)
- Political support professions: Communication (MAPCom)
The "Métiers de l'accompagnement politique : Communication" course in the History master's program trains students for careers in municipal, departmental and regional political life and communication, with possible extensions at national and European level.
It responds to the growing professionalization of political activities. In this context, elected representatives increasingly need advisors, assistants, press officers and communications officers.
Professionally, this involves assisting deputies and senators in Parliament and in their constituencies, working alongside regional councillors, general councillors, mayors and presidents of public establishments for inter-communal cooperation, drafting speeches and amendments, preparing meetings and draft deliberations, meeting and receiving voters, organizing election campaigns, orchestrating the communication of elected representatives and their relations with the various types of local and national media, and publishing local authority newsletters.
To achieve this, the course combines knowledge of cultural, political and legal history, law and local authority management, with a mastery of communication and journalism techniques.
